Marco Drago

Since 1997 Marco Drago has been the Chairman of De Agostini S.p.A., the holding company of the De Agostini Group. He leads one of Italy's largest family-run groups, which he has steered through an extraordinary phase of development and diversification in new activities.

As Chief Executive Officer of the Editorial Group during the 80s and 90s he was the driving force behind the exceptional growth in Italy and especially abroad. With more than hundred years of activities today De Agostini Editore operates in around 30 countries with publications in 13 languages through the following companies: De Agostini Publishing, DeA Planeta Libri, De Agostini Scuola and Digital De Agostini.

Since 2000, as part of a strong diversification strategy, he has led the Group to expand in the following sectors:

- Lotteries, gaming and services with IGT a worldwide leader operating in more than 100 countries, listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
- Media and Communication with ATRESMEDIA in Spain (in joint venture with Planeta Group, leading company in TV and radio) and Banijay Group, one of the largest independent companies in the world in the production and distribution of content for television and multimedia platforms, active in more than 16 countries.
- Finance, with DeA Capital, listed on the Milan Stock Exchange as well, managing private equity investments with direct  participations such as Migros Türk (Turkey’s largest food retailer) and indirectly with the presence in several international funds. DeA Capital also operates in the Alternative Asset Management through the platform represented by DeA Capital Alternative Funds SGR S.p.A. and DeA Capital Real Estate SGR S.p.A.
- Insurance, until 2006 with Toro Assicurazioni, then sold to Assicurazioni Generali, of which the Group has then become a shareholder.

Today the De Agostini Group is operating worldwide, with revenues over 5 bln/€  and over 14.000 employees.

From July 2018 he is the President of the Board of Directors of B&D Holding S.p.A. (formerly B&D Holding di Marco Drago e C. S.a.p.A., of which he was President of the Board of Partners since 2006).
He is also Vice President of Planeta De Agostini Group, Director of Atresmedia, IGT, DeA Capital, De Agostini Editore, S. Faustin (Techint Group) and member of the Assonime’s board of governors.

Born in Settimo Torinese, in 1946, he graduated in Economics and Business at Università Bocconi in Milan in 1969.
He started his career that same year in the family company joining Istituto Geografico De Agostini.

In 1997 he replaced Achille Boroli as Chairman of De Agostini Holding SpA, having previously fulfilled as Executive Officer and Managing Director.

In 1970 he married Donata Morandi and they have three children: Marcella, graduate in Modern Literature, Enrico and Nicola, both graduate in Economics at Università Bocconi.

He has received important awards such as “Bocconiano dell’anno” in 2001, and was made “Cavaliere del Lavoro” in 2003.

Marco Boroli

Marco Boroli, born in Novara on August 25, 1947, graduated in Political Science at the University of Pavia. In 1975 he took over a managerial position in the Administrative Office of the De Agostini Group, and also became the Controller of De Agostini associates operating in France, Switzerland and Belgium that, after a while, were deeply restructured. In 1978 he was appointed Deputy General Manager of Istituto Geografico De Agostini and in 1983 assumed the position of General Manager responsible for the Books Business Area. In 1986, he was appointed Managing Director, and Vice-Chairman in 1990. He became Chairman of Istituto Geografico De Agostini in May 1996. From 1999 until 2012 (march) Chairman of Mach 2 Libri. In 1999 he was appointed Senior Vice-Chairman of De Agostini S.p.A., the holding company of the Group. Within the Group he is member of the Board of Directors of DeA Capital.

Pietro Boroli

Born in Novara on 21 November 1957, Pietro graduated in Political Science at Pavia University. In 1979 he started to work with the Istituto Geografico De Agostini. From 1981 to 1983 he was assistant to the Managing Director, Marco Drago. In 1984 he was appointed Advertising Manager, in 1985 Sales Director for Magazines and Partworks and, in 1990, Partworks Division Manager, coordinating activities both on the Italian and foreign markets. From 1993 he was Managing Director of the Istituto Geografico De Agostini. In 1999 he was appointed CEO and Vice-Chairman of the Istituto Geografico De Agostini and since 2003 he has been Chairman of De Agostini Editore, the publishing sub-holding. He is Vice-Chairman of De Agostini S.p.A, the Group holding company, with responsibility for publishing activities and holds various other positions within Group companies, such as Chairman of De Agostini Publishing S.p.A. and De Agostini Scuola S.p.A., Director of DeA Planeta Libri, M-dis and Planeta De Agostini SA. He is member of the Board of Directors of Venchi S.p.A., Banzai S.p.A., Lavazza S.p.A. and Rubinetterie Stella S.p.A. He is member of the Board of Directors of "Fondazione Teatro Coccia" in Novara and "Fondazione Achille e Giulia Boroli". Since 25 June 2015 he is Honorary Consul of Spain in Novara.

Roberto Drago

 

Born in Novara on January 3, 1951, Roberto Drago graduated from the Università Bocconi of Milan with a degree in Economics and Business. In January 1976 he joined the Istituto Geografico De Agostini, working in administration. From January 1978 until December 1988 he was Director of Finabuch SA in Lugano, the foreign holding company of the De Agostini group and sole distributor of the De Agostini catalogue in the Italian-speaking areas of Switzerland. In March 1991 he was appointed General Manager of the De Agostini Group holding company, responsible for the Group’s corporate, legal, financial and fiscal services. March 1999 saw his appointment as Vice-Chairman of Finance for De Agostini S.p.A. He is a member of the Board of Directors of B&D Holding S.p.A. He was a member of the Board of Directors of DeA Capital until 2016 and Chairman of DeA Partecipazioni S.p.A. until december 2017.
He is Chairman of Camperio SIM S.p.A., DeA Factor S.p.A. and B&D Finance S.p.A. From February 2007 he is Chairman of Fondazione De Agostini.From July 2010 until December 2018 he was Vice President of the Novara Industrial Association.He is also in the Board of Directors of Planeta De Agostini S.L. (Spain).

Chief Executive Officer
Lorenzo Pellicioli

Born on July 29, 1951 in Alzano Lombardo (Bergamo). Married, three children. He lives in Milan.

He started his career as a journalist for the newspaper Giornale Di Bergamo and afterwards he became Bergamo TV Programmes Vice President.

From 1978 to 1984, he held different posts in the sector of the Italian private television for Manzoni Pubblicità, Publikompass up to his nomination as Rete4 General Manager.

In 1984, he joined the Gruppo Mondadori Espresso, the first Italian publishing group. He was initially appointed General Manager for Advertising Sales and Mondadori Periodici (magazines) Vice General Manager and afterwards President and CEO of Manzoni & C. S.p.A, advertising rep of the Group.

During this period he contributes to modernizing the commercial sales techniques of news media adapting them to a market prevailed more and more by the television media. In addition, at the same time  he participates in launching news magazines such as Donna Moderna and Marie Claire.

From 1990 to 1997, he was appointed first President and CEO of Costa Cruise Lines in Miami, being part of Costa Crociere Group operating in the North American market (USA, Canada and Mexico) and then became Worldwide General Manager of Costa Crociere S.p.A., based in Genoa.

From 1995 to 1997 he was also appointed President and CEO of the Compagnie Française de Croisières (Costa-Paquet), the Paris-based subsidiary of Costa Crociere.

Having coming back to Europe in 1993, he leads the cruising European market development whose Costa Crociere is the unchallenged European leader. By using all the marketing techniques available, Costa tranforms the item cruise from dusty and old-fashioned holidays into young and up-to-date ones, doubling the outstanding performance of the north American market.

As from 1997, he took part to the privatization of SEAT Pagine Gialle purchased by a group of financial investors. After the acquisition he was appointed CEO of SEAT.

It respresents the greatest European buy-out leverage of the time. During the following two years Seat changes from being a governmental and traditional company into one of the leading  company of the new economy thanks to the launch of Yellow Pages Online and the telephone service 892424 and buying the Viriglio portal both.

In February 2000, he was also in charge of the “Internet Business Unit” of the Telecom Italia Group following the sale of SEAT. In September 2001, following the acquisition of Telecom Italia by the Pirelli Group, he resigned.

As from November 2005 he is CEO of the De Agostini Group, an Italian financial group with ownership in the publishing sector (De Agostini Editore), games and lotteries (IGT), media and communications (Atresmedia - Spanish television leader, Banijay Group - a leader company in the production and distribution of television and media content), in the financial investments (DeA Capital).

He was Chairman of Gtech S.p.A. from August 2006 to April 2015 and, after the merger with IGT, he was initially appointed Vice Chairman of IGT and, since November 2018, Chairman of the company.

He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of DeA Capital, company listed on the Milan stock market and he is member of the Board of Directors of Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A.

He is also member of the Advisory Board of Palamon Capital Partners.

He was formerly also a member of the Boards of Directors of Enel, INA-Assitalia, Toro Assicurazioni and of the Advisory Board of Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking.

On April 3, 2017 he was honoured with the title of Chevalier dans l'ordre de la Légion d'Honneur.

Lino Benassi

Lino Benassi was born in Trento in 1943.
From 1963 to 1994 he worked at Banca Commerciale Italiana covering offices of Director up to the office of CEO from 2000 to 2001. From 1995 to 2000 he was Managing Director and CEO of INA SpA and from 2000 to 2002 he was also CEO of Banca IntesaBci.
In 2003 he was appointed “Great Officer of Merit” of the Italian Republic.
His main offices were Chairman of Caboto Sim, Chairman and Managing Director of Banque Sudameris (Paris), Vice Chairman of Banco di Napoli Holding, Director of Banco di Napoli (Member of Executive Committee), Director of BNL (Member of Executive Committee), Vice Chairman of ABI, Vice Chairman of Compagnie Monegasque de Banque, Chairman of Toro Assicurazioni SpA, Banca Italease and Credit Suisse Italy Spa. Benassi is currently Director of De Agostini SpA, DeA Capital SpA, Seat Pagine Gialle SpA and Zignago Vetri SpA.
